Nigeria and China Celebrate 55 Years of Friendship

The Nigeria – China Food Festival, held at the Chinese Cultural Center in Abuja, celebrated 55 years of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the Republic of China. Barr.

Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, represented by Permanent Secretary Mr. Abdulkarim Ozi Ibrahim, emphasized the festival's significance as a platform for cultural exchange and cooperation in gastronomy, tourism, and culinary education. The Minister noted that the formal diplomatic relationship began on February 10, 1971, and has evolved into a strategic partnership over the decades.

Musawa highlighted the role of food in preserving heritage and fostering connections, stating that festivals like this provide opportunities for chefs and food entrepreneurs. Zhou HongYou, the Chinese d’ Affaires ad interim, reiterated the importance of the longstanding relationship, noting that both nations share rich culinary traditions.

The festival aims to strengthen ties and create new opportunities in the creative and tourism sectors.
