Nigeria and China Sign Creative Industry Cooperation Pact

Nigeria and China have strengthened their cultural diplomacy by signing a creative industry cooperation agreement between the China Movie Channel (CMC) and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). This agreement aims to enhance film co-productions, content exchange, professional training, technology transfer, and collaboration across creative sectors.

The signing occurred on Friday during the China–Nigeria Film and Literature Symposium at the China Cultural Centre in Abuja, attended by senior officials, diplomats, and cultural figures. Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, emphasized the importance of literature and cinema in fostering mutual understanding between nations.

He noted that both countries have rich literary and cinematic heritages, with Nigerian authors gaining popularity in China. The event coincided with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and China and reflects their commitment to the outcomes of the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit.

Dr Mukhtar Yawale Muhammad, representing the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, praised the partnership as a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations.
