Nigeria and Gambia Sign MoU to Reduce Road Traffic Deaths

On April 5, 2023, Nigeria and Gambia formalized a partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to address the high rate of road traffic accidents in both countries. The agreement, signed by representatives from the Road Safety Drive Standard Association (RSDSA) and APRI, aims to foster closer collaboration and share best practices to improve road safety.

Njie Baldeh, the Administrative Secretary of RSDSA, expressed gratitude for the partnership, emphasizing the need for such collaboration as Gambia ranks 8th globally in road accident fatalities. Amb Fide Nnadi, the Executive Director of APRI, welcomed the initiative, stating that the partnership aligns with global efforts to reduce road deaths.

The RSDSA has been working with stakeholders since 2018 to mitigate road accidents in Gambia, and this new partnership is expected to enhance their efforts significantly.
