Nigeria Immigration Service Denies Regional Passport Exclusion Reports

The Nigeria Immigration Service has debunked rumors circulating online about the exclusion of specific regions from obtaining passports. In a statement released on Saturday, the agency clarified that there is no truth to the claims and described them as entirely false and a misrepresentation of their ongoing efforts to modernize passport services.

The agency explained that they have introduced a phased onboarding system for passport offices, including foreign missions, as part of a central product framework initiative that began in 2024. This initiative aims to enhance service efficiency and delivery without excluding any citizens.

The Nigeria Immigration Service confirmed that passport offices in the North-East and North-Central states, including Borno, Yobe, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, along with 35 international stations across Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America, have successfully onboarded the migration system. Additionally, they have included five South-East states and five international stations in Italy, Greece, Spain, Switzerland, and Austria.

The agency reassured the public of its commitment to serving Nigerians equitably regardless of gender or location.
