Umo Eno Named Football Friendly Governor of the Year 2025

Pastor Umo Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, was honored as the “Football Friendly Governor of the Year 2025” by the Nigeria Pitch Awards during the 12th Nigeria Pitch Awards ceremony held at Ibis Hotel, Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos. This recognition acknowledges his administration's commitment to the development and promotion of football and sports in the state.

The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo was also awarded the title of “Football Pitch of the Year.” Governor Eno, who previously won this award in 2024, expressed gratitude for the recognition, attributing it to the efforts of athletes, coaches, and sports administrators in Akwa Ibom. He emphasized the importance of sports for youth development and outlined his administration's initiatives, including the Akwa Ibom Sports Festival, purchase of sports equipment, and support for various sports competitions.

Eno dedicated the award to the sporting community and assured continued support for sports excellence through the ARISE Agenda.
