Nigeria Postpones Global AMR Ministerial Conference

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the postponement of the Global Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Ministerial Conference, following extensive consultations with stakeholders involved in the preparation for the event. Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, stated that a new date for the conference will be communicated in due course.

The government expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and thanked stakeholders, partners, and the public for their understanding and continued support. The statement reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to hosting this important global gathering aimed at advancing international collaboration and collective action against antimicrobial resistance, which poses a significant challenge to global health.

Preparatory activities will continue under the supervision of a local organizing committee, with relevant ministries and agencies engaged to ensure the conference's success when rescheduled.
