Nigeria Postpones 5th Global AMR Conference to 2026

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the postponement of the 5th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), which was set to take place in Abuja from June 28 to June 30, 2026. This decision follows extensive consultations with key stakeholders involved in the preparation for the conference.

The new date for the conference will be communicated in due course. The Federal Government expressed deep regret for any inconvenience caused by this postponement and appreciates the understanding and support of stakeholders.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to advancing international collaboration and collective action to address the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance to health. Preparatory activities will continue under the supervision of the local organizing committee, with relevant ministries, departments, and agencies of the Federal Government engaging with stakeholders to ensure the success of the conference at a later date.

Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, emphasized the importance of this global gathering.
