Nigeria and Russia Forge New Educational and Trade Ties

On Thursday, Dr. Dori Uzoka Anit, Nigeria's Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, met with Mr.

Maxim Petrov from the Russian Federation Trade Commission during a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. The discussions focused on expanding technical partnerships and unlocking new opportunities in education, trade, and investment.

Dr. Uzoka Anit emphasized the Nigerian government's commitment to building a mutually beneficial relationship with Russia, highlighting the importance of leveraging existing agreements to enhance collaboration in key sectors, particularly education and human capital development.

Mr. Petrov noted Russia's readiness to deepen engagement with Nigeria across multiple sectors, including a new educational exchange initiative that offers fully funded scholarships for Nigerian students.

This initiative aims to accommodate 200 students initially, with plans for further expansion. The partnership is designed to align with Nigeria's development priorities and support the country's goals through genuine collaboration.
