Nigeria and Russia Forge New Trade and Education Partnership

On Thursday, Dr. Dori Uzoka Anit, the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, received Mr.

Maxim Petrov from the Russian Federation Trade Commission during a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. The meeting emphasized the Nigerian government's commitment to building a mutually beneficial relationship with Russia, highlighting the importance of technical partnerships in shaping future engagements.

Dr. Uzoka Anit noted the progress made and the potential for expanding cooperation in new impactful areas, particularly in education and human capital development.

Mr. Petrov expressed Russia's readiness to deepen engagement with Nigeria across multiple sectors, introducing a new educational exchange initiative that offers fully funded scholarship opportunities for Nigerian students.

This initiative will cover tuition and accommodation, allowing for the accommodation of 200 students, with plans for further expansion. The partnership is designed to align with Nigeria's developmental priorities, fostering a genuine partnership focused on mutual goals.
