Nigeria U-12 Basketball Team Heads to Italy for Tournament

The Nigeria U-12 basketball team departed Lagos for Italy on Saturday to represent the country at the 34th edition of the Minibasket Piazza World 12 International Basketball Tournament, scheduled from June 21 to June 28. The trip was made possible through the sponsorship of Blueworld Cosmet Ltd, known for its Vivon brand, with Mr.

Ikenna Ekeagu serving as the chairman and chief executive officer. Ekeagu emphasized that the sponsorship significantly alleviates the financial burden of international participation and ensures that selected children proudly represent Nigeria at this global event.

He has invested in various initiatives aimed at empowering Nigerian youth and developing grassroots sports. The team, which underwent a thorough selection process from multiple basketball academies in Lagos, features 11-year-old captain Oluwatimifun Adeoy, who expressed confidence in the team's ability to fulfill its mission in Italy.

The tournament promotes cultural exchange and inclusivity, attracting participants from 63 countries.
