Nigeria's Development Hindered by Wealth-Driven Politics

During a conference at Osun State University's Ikirun campus on Tuesday, Professor Olatunji Oyeshile criticized Nigeria's political landscape, asserting that the nation's slow progress is largely due to a system where wealth determines leadership. He argued that political parties encourage competition for power rather than collaboration, which hampers development.

Oyeshile noted that individuals contesting elections often lack the necessary resources and support, leading to exclusion based on wealth rather than capability. He urged political parties to focus on delivering benefits to citizens instead of engaging in power struggles.

Oyeshile also disclosed plans to develop a memorandum of understanding to enable Nigerian students to study in Bulgaria, highlighting the increasing digitization of education in Europe.
