Tinubu Commissions Africa's First Renewable Energy College

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu stated that Nigeria is now a leader in renewable energy capacity development in Africa. This declaration was made during the commissioning of Africa's first renewable energy college, the Barefoot Renewable Energy College, and the Green Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Pilot Plant at the Confluence University of Science and Technology in Kogi State.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu emphasized that the college addresses Nigeria's challenges in converting its natural resources into energy and jobs. The college is modeled after successful vocational colleges in India and aims to produce skilled technicians in renewable energy technologies.

Graduates will receive internationally recognized certificates, enhancing their employability globally. Tinubu noted the swift execution of the project, contrasting it with Nigeria's history of unfinished public projects, and called for collaboration from development partners and the private sector to support the college's mission.
