Nigerian Army Receives 15 Locally Made APCs in Kaduna

On Wednesday, the Nigerian Army took delivery of 15 locally produced Vanquisher light Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) from the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) in Kaduna. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shu'aibu, described the event as a historic milestone that showcases Nigeria's growing defense manufacturing capacity.

Major General Bamidel Alabi, the Army Chief, emphasized that this handover is not merely a transfer of equipment but a tangible proof of expanding local capabilities in military hardware development. The APCs are designed to enhance troop survivability and operational effectiveness across various theaters.

Major General Babatunde Alaya disclosed that this delivery is part of a larger initiative involving 20 locally produced ballistic protection platforms. The vehicles are configured for multiple missions, including troop transport and reconnaissance, and are expected to create employment opportunities for Nigerian engineers and skilled workers.
