Kika Otiono Wins Leading Women, Leading Girls Award

Kika Otiono, a Nigerian-born Canadian urology resident, was honored with the Leading Women, Leading Girls Award in Orleans, Canada, during a ceremony celebrating International Women's Day. The event featured a women's breakfast and was attended by Member of Parliament Mari Franc Lalond, who presented the award.

Otiono was recognized for her outstanding contributions to community development and her dedication to women's advocacy. She has received several academic leadership honors, including the Government of Ontario Outstanding Volunteer Award.

Currently in her third year of surgical residency at the University of Ottawa's Division of Urology, Otiono holds an MD from McMaster University and a graduate certificate in health professional education from the University of Saskatchewan. She is also an alumna of Carleton University, where she graduated with a Senate Medal.

Otiono founded the Black Women in Medicine health group at Carleton University and serves as the inaugural director of advocacy for the Black Medical Student Association of Canada.
