Nigerian Lawyer-Poet Karimot Odebod Wins Global Award

Karimot Odebod, a Nigerian public interest lawyer and poet, has been honored with the 29th Global Love Live Award by Taiwan's Chou Ta Kuan Cultural Education Foundation. The announcement was made on Thursday, during the foundation's inaugural international mission to Nigeria in February, led by founder Chou Chin Hua and chairperson Guo Ying Lan.

Odebod was recognized for her tireless advocacy for gender equality and education, embodying the title of Nigeria's public interest lawyer and poet. She has worked to empower youth and promote feminist leadership, striving to build a world where girls receive education.

Odebod graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University and founded the Black Girl Dream Initiative. She was selected from a pool of 3,795 global nominees and will be formally celebrated in Taiwan in September.

The foundation donated $5,000 to her initiative, which aids the Ayowol Academy of Art. The event also featured Nigerian child artist Olamilekan Kareem, who spread positive energy and love.
