Nigerian Film Corporation Remembers Olu Jacobs' Legacy

The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) announced the death of Chief Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, which occurred in the early hours of September 16, 2026. Dr. Ali Nuhu, Managing Director/Chief Executive of NFC, expressed deep sorrow over Jacobs' passing, describing it as a significant loss to Nigeria's film industry.

Nuhu highlighted Jacobs' impactful contributions over several decades in both domestic and international film practices. He noted Jacobs' exceptional qualities as a filmmaker, storyteller, and mentor, emphasizing his positive influence on family, peers, and the broader television and film community.

Jacobs was recognized as one of Nigeria's early iconic film stakeholders and a prolific actor in Nollywood, earning numerous awards, including the Member of the Federal Republic (MFR). Nuhu extended condolences to Jacobs' family and acknowledged his legacy in building an inclusive and professional film industry in Nigeria.
