Nigerian Gallery Seeks to Educate Artists on Access to SMEDAN Fund

The Nigerian Gallery Art is aiming to educate local artists on accessing the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) fund to develop Nigerian art. The Director General of the Nigeria Art Gallery, Ahmed Sodangi, revealed this plan in Abuja.

The gallery is seeking to educate artists on the criteria needed to unlock funding from SMEDAN, emphasizing the importance of understanding why funding is needed and how it should be utilized. Sodangi stressed the need for artists to be profitable and pay back any debts incurred from the funding.

The gallery is also exploring the possibility of forming an art association to serve as guarantors for artists seeking funding. Sodangi highlighted the importance of financial support for the creative industry and encouraged artists to access finance to further develop their businesses.
