FG to Settle Outstanding Wage Awards by Mid-August

The Federal Government of Nigeria has committed to paying outstanding wage awards to public servants before the middle of August. During a meeting with the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JPSNC), Trade Side, led by National President Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir, Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, stated that the government is actively addressing issues raised by the Council.

He emphasized the administration's dedication to resolving labor concerns through constructive engagement and realistic timelines. Efe Ovuakporie reported that the payment release process for the wage award is nearing completion.

Additionally, Oyedele confirmed that promotion arrears are being processed and directed officials to expedite action on outstanding matters. He acknowledged organized labor's concerns regarding delays and reiterated the government's commitment to transparency and regular consultations.

The Director of the Cash Management Department, Christiana Osho, confirmed that reconciliation for the wage award has been completed and the payment release is in its final stages.
