Lagos Labour Leader Domingo Michael Adelek Dies in Geneva

Domingo Michael Adelek, the chairman of the Lagos State Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), died in Geneva, Switzerland, after falling ill while attending the 114th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC). His illness led to medical attention, but he subsequently passed away.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) confirmed his death, expressing deep sorrow and recognizing Adelek as a committed trade unionist dedicated to the welfare of workers. The NLC emphasized his lifelong commitment to promoting decent work and social justice.

Adelek was also an official member of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) and was involved in labor-related advocacy and initiatives throughout his career. His passing is particularly felt within the Nigerian labor movement, especially among the 2026 worker delegation at the International Labour Conference.
