Nigerian Navy Transfers Five IPOB/ESN Suspects to DSS

The Nigerian Navy transferred five suspects associated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) to the Department of State Services (DSS) in Anambra State for further investigation. The suspects were apprehended by personnel from the Naval Outpost in Onitsha, following credible intelligence reports linking them to criminal activities within the Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one suspect allegedly coordinated the group's operations, which included clandestine meetings and recruitment activities. The Navy, through its Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, stated that the operation reflects its commitment to supporting internal security operations and combating violent extremism.

The transfer of custody to the DSS is part of an inter-agency collaboration protocol to ensure thorough investigations and appropriate prosecutions.
