ADC Critiques Presidency's Remarks on Economic Hardship

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) responded to comments made by Bayo Onanuga, a special adviser to the presidency, regarding the economic hardships faced by Nigerians. Onanuga, during an interview on Arise TV, claimed he did not perceive the level of hunger and suffering reported by citizens.

In contrast, ADC's national public secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described Onanuga's remarks as startling and indicative of a disconnect from the realities of the populace. Abdullahi emphasized that the current financial distress is unprecedented, with 62 percent of Nigerians experiencing a harder life since the government took office.

He argued that the administration's economic policies have failed to address the needs of citizens, who struggle to afford basic necessities. Abdullahi stated that the government must acknowledge the consequences of its policies and accept responsibility for its failures.

He warned that Onanuga's comments could reinforce the perception that the APC government is out of touch with the struggles of the people.
