Dickson Affirms Nigerians' Right to Change Political Parties

Seriak Dickson, a prominent leader of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), affirmed that Nigerians have the constitutional right to change political parties freely. During the launch of the NDC's digital membership registration portal in Abuja, he addressed concerns regarding a proposed law aimed at criminalizing double registration for House of Representatives candidates.

Dickson criticized this legislation as an orchestrated plan to intimidate opposition parties, particularly newer ones. He highlighted that the constitution guarantees every Nigerian the freedom to associate and disassociate from any political party.

He stated that registering with a party does not prevent an individual from resigning and joining another party, such as the NDC. Dickson invited Nigerians to register with the NDC, emphasizing that the party offers an alternative without the constraints of the proposed law.

He reassured that the NDC would continue to support the rights of individuals to choose their political affiliations without fear of legal repercussions.
