Makinde Advocates for Oil Benefits to Nigerians

On Monday, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who is the presidential candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), stated that Nigeria's crude oil must deliver measurable benefits to its citizens. He made these remarks during the commissioning of the APM National Campaign Office for the 2027 presidential election in Abuja.

Makinde advocated for greater transparency in the petroleum value chain, including production, allocation to domestic refineries, refining, transportation, distribution, taxation, and retailing of petroleum products. He questioned the pricing of crude oil supplied to Nigerian refineries, arguing that it should not be priced as if Nigeria does not produce it.

He proposed a "Reset Nigeria" agenda aimed at enhancing transparency and rebuilding public trust in government. Makinde encouraged Nigerians to engage in discussions about the country's future beyond just political circles.

Additionally, APM National Leader and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed endorsed Makinde, praising his administrative capabilities and resource management skills. APM National Chairman Dr. Yusuf Dantalle highlighted the party's agenda focused on governance competence.
