Osun Peace Commission Receives 10 Petitions at Inaugural Sitting

The Osun State Commission of Inquiry on Disturbance of Public Peace held its inaugural sitting on Monday at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Osun State Government Secretariat, Abere. During this sitting, the commission disclosed it had received 10 petitions related to various disputes across the state, including chieftaincy matters and land disputes.

The commission's chairman, Justice Adekunle Adeigbe (retd.), assured all parties involved of the commission's commitment to fairness, impartiality, and due process. He clarified that the commission would investigate the issues and submit its findings to the Osun State Executive Council for further action.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, who inaugurated the commission, emphasized the importance of integrity and impartiality in its operations. He was represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi, who reiterated the need for the commission to rely on evidence in its findings.

The commission's Secretary, Philips Afolayan, invited the public, particularly lawyers, to participate in the proceedings.
