Alausa Advocates Data-Driven Education Reforms in Nigeria

At the Executive Retreat for Honourable Commissioners of Education organized by the Committee of States’ Commissioners of Education (COSCEN) in Abuja, Dr. Alausa stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has prioritized education in the Renewed Hope Agenda, providing essential political leadership for reforms.

He noted that while the Federal Government sets policy direction, states are primarily responsible for delivering quality education, necessitating stronger collaboration. Dr.

Alausa announced the deployment of the National Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI) and the Digitalised Nigeria Education Management Information System (DNEMIS) to enhance data collection on education metrics. He urged states to complete their Annual School Census and commended Kaduna and Borno for their progress.

The Minister also encouraged engagement with the World Bank-supported HOPE Education Programme, which offers US$552 million in performance-based financing. He proposed quarterly review meetings among state commissioners to promote accountability and best practices in education governance.
