Nigeria to Host 2027 AEAA Conference in Abuja

Nigeria's educational assessment has gained international recognition as the country will host the 2027 Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA) conference in Abuja. This decision was made during the AEAA General Assembly at its 42nd Conference in Arusha, Tanzania.

Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar of the National Examination Council (NECO), has been elected Vice President of AEAA, reflecting Nigeria's growing influence in educational assessment amidst digital transformation and artificial intelligence integration. Alhaji Azeez Sani, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at NECO, stated that this development strengthens Nigeria's position in Africa's educational assessment community.

The conference will showcase Nigeria's ongoing reforms in educational assessments and attract policymakers, researchers, and education experts from across Africa. Since becoming NECO Registrar in 2021, Wushishi has implemented reforms to modernize examination administration and expand NECO's international reach, with examinations now conducted in eight foreign countries.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reappointed Wushishi for a second term earlier this year.
