Nigeria Signs Hosting Agreement for 2027 African School Games

The Federal Government of Nigeria signed a hosting agreement with the African National Olympic Committees (ANOCA) for the 2027 African School Games during a ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday. This agreement is a crucial milestone in Nigeria's ambition to successfully host the second edition of the African School Games.

Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), emphasized that hosting the games aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's vision to revitalize Nigerian sports and promote grassroots development. The NSC aims to collaborate with various federations and the Ministry of Education to enhance grassroots sports initiatives.

The Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, assured that Nigeria would deliver a world-class event, building on past successes in hosting international competitions.

ANOCA President Mustapha Berraf expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government for its commitment to hosting the games, which he believes will provide hope for African children. The ceremony also included the presentation of honorary awards to key figures for their contributions to sports development in Nigeria.
