SSAEAC Demands Action After NAF Assault on Workers

The Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) has issued a three-day ultimatum, threatening to shut down electricity operations nationwide if authorities do not address the alleged assault and arrest of 10 electricity workers by Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel in Bauchi State. The ultimatum began on September 21 and will expire on September 23.

Rilwanu Shehu, the national deputy president of SSAEAC, announced the ultimatum during a protest following an incident where NAF personnel allegedly invaded the Electricity Distribution (JED) operation office, leading to the arrest of the workers. The dispute originated on September 18 when JED disconnected electricity supply to NAF quarters for unpaid bills, after notifying NAF authorities.

Shehu stated that the incident has instilled fear among workers, who are now uncomfortable performing their duties due to the alleged assault and intimidation. The union plans to pursue legal channels to protect its members and seek justice.
