Nigeria’s Two-faced Justice System

The Nigerian government's handling of two recent cases involving Ibom Air passenger Comfort Emmanson and Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshall has sparked controversy over the country's justice system. While Emmanson was swiftly detained and faced criminal charges, Marshall, known as KWAM 1, was seen as being let off the hook despite alleged misconduct at the Abuja airport.

The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, announced a plan to reward Marshall with an ambassadorial position instead of prosecuting him for his actions. This decision was met with criticism from many Nigerians who questioned the fairness and equal application of the law.

The swift handling of Emmanson's case compared to the leniency shown towards Marshall has raised concerns about double standards and the lack of accountability in Nigeria's justice system. Renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana SAN highlighted the need for a fair and consistent application of the law to ensure justice for all.
