NIMENA Launches Two Journals for Marine Engineering Research

The Nigerian Institute of Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture (NIMENA) has announced the establishment of two peer-reviewed academic journals to advance marine engineering research within Africa's maritime sector. The first journal, the African Journal of Offshore Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture (AJOMENA), will focus on critical areas such as offshore engineering, marine engineering, and maritime technology.

The second journal, the Blue Economy and Sustainable Energy Development, will explore emerging themes in the maritime domain, including blue economy policies and sustainable energy systems. NIMENA aims to strengthen indigenous research capacity and foster knowledge exchange among researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders across Africa.

The official launch of these journals is scheduled for May 11, 2026, at the headquarters of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in Abuja. Eferebo Sylvanu, the National Chairman of NIMENA, emphasized that these developments are part of the institute's vision to support policy development and encourage innovation, contributing to Nigeria's growth in the blue economy.
