NiMet and AKADEMIYA2063 Sign MoU on AI and Climate Research

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and AKADEMIYA2063 have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI), climate and weather data analytics, and evidence-based research. The agreement was signed by NiMet's Director-General and CEO, Prof.

Charles Anosike, and AKADEMIYA2063’s Managing Director, Dr. Debisi Araba, along with Dr.

Racine Ly, the organization’s Director of Data Intelligence and Governance. Prof.

Anosike stated that the partnership reflects NiMet’s commitment to integrating emerging technologies to improve weather and climate services. He revealed the establishment of an AI Research Team within NiMet to explore AI applications in weather forecasting and operational efficiency.

The MoU includes the formation of a Joint Technical Committee to work with NiMet’s AI Research Team, focusing on climate monitoring, seasonal forecasting, and improving agricultural planning. This partnership aims to strengthen Nigeria's capacity to utilize AI and climate data to address weather-related challenges and enhance food security.
