NiMet Achieves ISO Certification for Three Airports

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has secured ISO 9001:2015 certification for its aeronautical meteorological services at three airports, following a directive from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. The certification was awarded after a successful third-party audit conducted by Certech Inc., Canada, from July 20 to July 23, 2026.

The audit confirmed that NiMet's services complied with ISO standards. NiMet's Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Charles Anosike, described this achievement as a significant milestone, expanding the agency's Quality Management System to cover eight international airports in Nigeria.

The certification is valid for three years, with annual surveillance audits scheduled before the next recertification in 2029. Notably, this is the first time that the airports in Yola, Osubi, and Owerri have undergone the ISO certification audit.

Anosike assured that NiMet would continue to enhance its operational standards to meet international safety requirements.
