NISO Refutes Zero Allocation Claims to DisCos

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), represented by Stella Oduem, issued a statement denying reports that Distribution Companies (DisCos) received zero megawatt (MW) allocations during the period from March 20 to March 22, 2026. NISO clarified that the power system experienced a reduction in generation levels due to gas supply constraints, which affected the overall availability of generation.

The statement emphasized that there was never a time during the specified period when DisCos were allocated zero megawatts, labeling such claims as inaccurate and not reflective of the actual operational realities of the national grid. NISO reiterated its commitment to equitable dispatch of available generation among DisCos, in accordance with the principles established under the Multi-Year Tariff Order (MYTO) framework set by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

The organization urged the public and stakeholders to rely on verified information from official sources and to refrain from spreading misleading reports.
