NLNG Contracts for Three New LNG Vessels Construction

Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has awarded contracts to Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group Co. Ltd and China Shipbuilding Trading Co.

Ltd for the construction of three newbuild LNG vessels. These vessels will have a cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic meters and will incorporate advanced X-DF propulsion technology, which is designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions compared to older vessel designs.

The delivery of these vessels is anticipated in 2029, and they will be chartered to NLNG, managed by NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML). This initiative is part of NLNG's fleet renewal and replacement program, aimed at modernizing its fleet to support cleaner and more efficient operations.

The new vessels will comply with global EU emission regulations, helping NLNG maintain its OGMP 2.0 Level 5 rating. Established in 1989, NLNG focuses on the transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Bonny Island to international markets, operating a fleet that currently includes 13 LNG vessels.
