NNPC Denies Selling Refinery Scrap Materials, Warns Public

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has issued a statement denying allegations that it is selling scrap materials from its refineries. The statement, signed by Chief Corporate Communications Officer Andi Odeh, was released on Friday.

NNPC clarified that it has not issued any requests for bids or tenders for the sale of scrap materials from its refineries located in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna. The company warned the public about misleading claims suggesting that individuals or private firms are authorized to sell scrap materials on its behalf.

NNPC stated that it has received reports of individuals falsely presenting themselves as agents for such sales and advised the public to exercise caution and disregard these claims. The corporation reiterated its commitment to transparency and responsible management of national energy assets, emphasizing that any legitimate disposal of assets would be communicated through official channels.

NNPC's refineries have remained idle for years, and efforts to revive them have not been successful, raising concerns among stakeholders.
