NNPC Disowns Fuel Truck Carrying Cannabis in Ondo State

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has disowned a fuel truck intercepted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ondo State, which contained 2,145kg of cannabis concealed in a compartment. NNPC's Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, stated that preliminary checks revealed the truck, with registration number MKA 960 XC, was neither owned by NNPC Ltd. nor part of its official fleet or that of any authorized dealers.

The company noted that the logo on the vehicle was inconsistent with its current branding and that the truck did not appear in its asset database. NNPC is engaging with the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners to gather more information regarding the unauthorized use of its old branding.

The company emphasized its commitment to cooperating with the NDLEA and other security agencies to investigate the incident, aiming to establish the vehicle's ownership and the circumstances of the logo's display. NNPC also plans to review its brand-protection protocols and take legal action against unauthorized use of its corporate identity.
