NNPC Ltd. Denies Ownership of Drug-Laden Truck in Ondo

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) announced that a truck intercepted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ondo State, which contained 2,145kg of cannabis, is not part of its fleet. The NDLEA reported that the truck, a 20,000-litre fuel tanker, was previously known for evading arrest and was pursued by officers after the driver refused to stop.

NNPC Ltd.’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, stated that the vehicle, registered as MKA 960 XC, is neither owned by NNPC Ltd. nor part of its official fleet or that of its authorized dealers. The logo on the vehicle does not match NNPC Ltd.’s current branding, and it is absent from the company’s asset database.

NNPC Ltd. is collaborating with the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) to investigate the use of its old branding on the vehicle. The company is committed to protecting its corporate identity and will pursue legal action against unauthorized use.
