NNPC Warns Against Scammers Selling Fake Refinery Scrap

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has raised an alarm regarding scammers who are falsely claiming to sell refinery scrap materials. In a statement signed by Andi Odeh, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, the NNPC categorically denied issuing any requests for bids or tenders related to the sale of scrap materials from its refineries located in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna.

The corporation emphasized that it has not authorized any sales of items from its warehouses or inventories. Reports have surfaced of individuals misrepresenting themselves as agents facilitating the sale of so-called scrap metal from refinery equipment.

The NNPC advised the public and industry stakeholders to disregard such claims and exercise caution when dealing with individuals making these representations. The company reiterated its commitment to transparency and responsible management of national energy assets, stating that any legitimate disposal of assets will be conducted through established processes communicated via official channels.

The statement concluded with a note on the ongoing idleness of the three NNPC refineries and the concerns expressed by stakeholders regarding their revival.
