NNS Beecroft Seizes 756kg Cannabis, Hands to NDLEA

The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft has successfully handed over 756 kg of cannabis sativa to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking. This transfer occurred during a ceremony held at NNS Beecroft in Apapa.

Commodore Aiwuyor Aliu, the commanding officer, announced that the cannabis was seized in various operations over the past few months, including five bags intercepted in Abul Osun on April 7, 2026, two bags recovered at Ikar Island on April 13, and 11 bags seized at Alpha Beach on July 15. The total weight of the recovered drugs amounts to 756 kg.

Aliu attributed the success of these operations to the Nigerian Navy's Falcon Eye surveillance system, which provides advanced maritime monitoring capabilities. He emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation in preventing drug trafficking and pledged continued collaboration with the NDLEA.

Command Narcot Luka Yerima commended the Nigerian Navy for its support in the fight against illicit drug trafficking.
