UBEC Advocates for Girls' Education in Nigeria

Dr. Aisha Garba, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), stated that no child's circumstances should hinder access to quality education in Nigeria. She made this assertion during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Alternative High School for Girls in Agboju, Lagos State.

Garba emphasized that every Nigerian child deserves the chance to learn and develop their abilities. The rehabilitation project, supported by UBEC through its UBE direct intervention, aims to provide girls and young women whose education has been interrupted with renewed opportunities.

She noted that girls who dropped out or young mothers seeking to return to school should not be seen as lost causes. Garba commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing education under the Renewed Hope Agenda and praised First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her commitment to empowering girls.

The rehabilitation included improvements in school infrastructure, academic facilities, and vocational equipment, aligning with UBEC's commitment to inclusive education.
