No more arms, we’ll rehabilitate you – Kano gov tells repentant thugs

Kano State Governor has announced a new approach to dealing with repentant thugs, stating that they will no longer be provided with arms but will instead be rehabilitated. The governor's representative, Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs Ibrahim Waiya, emphasized the need to end the era of arming thugs and engaging in antisocial activities.

He highlighted the Safe Corridor Project, which aims to rehabilitate these individuals in a safe environment and assign them roles that best suit their skills. Waiya also mentioned the revalidation exercise to update beneficiary records, as some previously profiled individuals have passed away.

The program's goal is to curb thuggery and related vices, with stakeholders from various agencies present to support this initiative, including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the State Commissioner of Police.
