Sowore Rejects 'Excellency' Titles for Nigerian Politicians

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), has publicly stated that Nigerians should cease addressing politicians with the titles "His Excellency" or "Her Excellency." In a post on his 𝕏 handle on Tuesday, Sowore argued that these titles are undeserved, citing a history of corruption, poverty, insecurity, and inadequate public services such as broken hospitals and collapsing schools. He emphasized that there is nothing excellent about the current state of governance in Nigeria, which he believes has failed its citizens over decades.

Sowore's remarks reflect a broader criticism of the political elite in Nigeria, suggesting that the titles should be reserved for those who genuinely earn them through exemplary service and governance.
