Nordic Associations Withdraw Support for FIFA's Infantino

Six Nordic football associations, including Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and the Faroe Islands, have officially withdrawn their support for FIFA president Gianni Infantino. This decision was made during a meeting in Helsinki, where the federations expressed a loss of confidence in Infantino's leadership.

They joined UEFA and other federations in demanding his resignation. The associations issued a joint statement highlighting their concerns regarding FIFA's governance and the need for a full investigation into FIFA's controversial proposal that suggested inviting private investors to stake in future major sporting competitions.

They also demanded guarantees that FIFA's competitions would never be privatized and called for independent governance of FIFA's internal structures. Infantino is currently seeking a third term as FIFA president, which could extend until 2031, and has faced criticism from various associations, including a promise from Denmark to propose a "real opposition candidate." Infantino has not yet responded to these developments.
