NEDC Warns Against Fraudulent Logo and Identity Theft

The Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) has expressed concern over activities by entities falsely claiming affiliation with the agency. Tijjani Bello, a manager at NEDC, released a statement in Maiduguri, Borno State, warning the public against identity theft and the unauthorized use of its logo and insignia.

The commission stated that such actions are deliberate attempts to deceive unsuspecting members of the public. It emphasized that using its official marks without prior written authorization is strictly prohibited.

The NEDC highlighted that impersonating or misusing its identity constitutes a serious violation of Nigerian law, which could result in severe legal consequences for individuals or organizations engaging in illicit activities, including operating fake online platforms. The commission urged the public to exercise caution and verify information through its official communication channels, clarifying that it does not accept responsibility for transactions conducted by unauthorized persons or entities using its name or logo.
