Norway Calls for Infantino's Resignation as FIFA President

The Norwegian Football Association (Norwegian FA) has urged FIFA president Gianni Infantino to resign, marking a significant escalation in the pressure on his leadership amid criticism of his controversial World Cup investment plan. This decision was announced after a meeting with Norwegian president Lise Klaveness, who stated that Infantino’s leadership has “lost trust.” Klaveness emphasized the need for leadership reassessment when trust is absent, asserting that Infantino’s tenure as FIFA president should conclude.

This call for resignation follows FIFA's abandonment of plans to sell a share in World Cup rights through a joint venture called the FIFA Forward Enterprise, which faced backlash from various governing bodies. Uefa has warned of a potential boycott of FIFA events, while the England Football Association has officially withdrawn its support for Infantino's re-election at a future FIFA Congress, although they, along with the Mexican football federation, continue to endorse him for now.
