Tambuwal Demands Probe into Peter Obi's Convoy Blockade

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the former Governor of Sokoto, condemned the blockade of Peter Obi's convoy by youths in Makurdi, Benue, describing the incident as “unacceptable and undemocratic.” In a statement from his media office on Tuesday, Tambuwal asserted that as a Nigerian citizen, former governor, and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Obi has the constitutional right to move freely and engage in lawful political activities. He stressed that political campaigns should facilitate candidates' freedom to travel, interact with voters, and canvass support without intimidation.

Tambuwal called on the Inspector-General of Police and relevant security agencies to investigate the incident and hold those responsible accountable. He warned against political parties and supporters attempting to restrict candidates' movements, asserting that political competition should be based on ideas and policies rather than intimidation or violence.

Tambuwal emphasized that all Nigerians must be allowed to participate freely in the democratic process without fear.
