NRS Sets July 31 Deadline for E-Invoicing Compliance

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has announced a deadline of July 31 for large taxpayers to fully adopt the national e-invoicing electronic fiscal system. This directive, issued by NRS Chairman Dare Adekanmbi and Zacch Adedeji, emphasizes that companies failing to comply risk facing regulatory enforcement actions under existing tax laws.

The July 31 deadline follows an earlier public notice issued on February 17, 2026, outlining the implementation timeline for the e-invoicing system, which is mandatory for large taxpayers defined as companies with an annual gross turnover of N5 billion and above. The NRS has begun monitoring compliance among affected companies and has urged them to complete outstanding implementation processes without delay.

Companies that do not meet the requirements may face sanctions. The NRS aims to strengthen tax administration and improve compliance monitoring through this initiative, which is part of a broader effort to modernize tax administration technology and enhance revenue collection.
