NSCDC Arrests Man for Vandalising Jigawa Forest Fence

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, arrested 46-year-old Abdullahi Muhammad for allegedly vandalising the perimeter fence of the Gabasmari Forest Reserve in Birniwa Local Government Area on Saturday at approximately 11:50 am. The arrest was confirmed by ASC Badruddeen Tijjani, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Jigawa State Command, who stated that the operation was facilitated by credible intelligence and community collaboration, particularly from a local farmer named Amadu and the Birniwa Zonal Forestry Officer, Zakar Yau Muhammad.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Muhammad vandalised about 10 metres of fencing wire, part of the Great Green Wall Project, an initiative aimed at combating desertification and protecting forest ecosystems. CC Muhammad Ingawa, the State Commandant, condemned the vandalism as a direct attack on government investments and emphasized the importance of community partnership in safeguarding public assets.

The NSCDC has vowed to continue its crackdown on vandalism.
