NSCDC Deploys 10,000 Personnel for Osun Election Security

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 10,000 personnel from 10 state commands to enhance security for the upcoming Osun State governorship election. Commandant-General Prof.

Ahmed Audi ordered this deployment, which will begin on Monday. The personnel, including uniformed and undercover officers, are sourced from Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun, Lagos, Kwara, Edo, Kogi, Delta, and the Federal Capital Territory, with approximately 1,000 officers from each command.

The deployment aims to complement existing NSCDC personnel in Osun State and ensure the safety of voters, electoral officials, observers, journalists, and residents across all 30 local government areas. Specialized units such as the Commandant-General’s Special Intelligence Squad and Special Weapons and Tactics Unit will also be involved.

Deputy Commandant-General Ayuba Phillip will oversee operations in Osun State. Audi emphasized the importance of professionalism and neutrality among personnel and warned against any disruptive activities during the election.
