NSCDC Arrests Suspect with 45,000 Litres of Adulterated Petrol

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, arrested a suspect named Sunday Ukeh for allegedly possessing a truck carrying 45,000 litres of suspected adulterated Premium Motor Spirit. The arrest took place on July 26, 2026, at approximately 1100hrs during a proactive intelligence-led operation conducted by the Anti-Vandalism Squad, led by CSC Nwosu Christian, at Amansea along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in Awka.

Ukeh, from Odume in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, attempted to evade arrest by driving through NSCDC personnel and allegedly assaulted one of the officers during the incident. Following a hot chase, he was intercepted at a Military Checkpoint in Amansea.

Preliminary investigations revealed discrepancies in the waybill presented by Ukeh. Both the truck and the suspected adulterated petrol have been impounded for further investigation.

The NSCDC emphasized its commitment to combating illegal activities in the petroleum sector and warned that any attacks on its personnel would face legal consequences.
